FAQs
Why does my child have such a hard time remembering things?
The best way to answer this question is with a comparison to something you understand.
Your child files and stores important information the same way they pack their suitcase to go on a trip. They throw all their clothes into the suitcase, sit on it so it closes and then, upon arrival, can't find their favorite t-shirt (that they know they packed). Sound familiar?
Now, let's suppose you packed your child's suitcase. You fold things nicely, put things in their place, twice as many clothes fit, the suitcase closes nicely and, upon arrival, your child finds exactly what they need.
That is why your child can't remember what they study. If someone showed them how to fold and pack (file and store information) the right way, they would do it in half the time and eliminate the frustration.
It's that simple.
How does Memory Skills Made Easy
help my child get better grades?
Your child will learn how to process information by recognizing patterns, similarities, differences that make the information more memorable.
Once they develop these habits, they begin applying them automatically. The information easily moves into short-term memory and stays longer. They absorb material quicker than before and hold it longer.
And we both know, the best grades go to the students that remember more of the material and can then apply it.

How does it save me time?
There are two answers to that.
First, with the step-by-step approach, your child can learn on their own. You can check in and see how they're doing.
Second, if you'd like to work with your child then the detailed approach allows you to understand and explain quickly and easily.
You just follow along and dedicate the time that you have. You only have to go over the strategies with your child once and they have it.
You'll even find tips on how to check in and see how things are going once they begin using the strategies on their own.
How old can you be to use these strategies?
It is never to early to learn memory skills. In fact, the earlier the better. This way your child begins learning automatically and can apply these techniques on a more advanced level as they get older. Naturally, these same strategies can be learned by kids of any age. The key point is to have memory skills that you can use when you need them.
Why don't schools teach this?
Schools don't have the time, quite frankly. And besides, schools have never been in the memory business. Did you learn memory skills in school? No, and neither did I. The reality is, kids are given information and are expected to absorb it, file it and later retrieve it on their own. Some kids can do this easier than others. They get the good grades. If your child has problems remembering what they study, they need guidance. That's where Memory Skills Made Easy comes in.
Who are you?
My name is Jim Sarris and I"ve been a math/Spanish teacher for 15 years. I published a book in 2004 called Comic Mnemonics for Spanish Verbs that is very popular with parents and teachers alike.
I began working with my oldest son, Nicholas, on his learning habits when he was 5. He had been diagnosed at age 3 with learning deficiencies. (He was 11 months developmentally delayed at age 3).
So we began working on his processing skills using the same techniques in this book/DVD. Well, I am happy to say that he quickly saw the logic in the approach and has really absorbed the techniques.
I decided to put the methods, along with other learning strategies, in one book and share them with parents like you.
